LOCKDOWN PORTRAITS

Nicole Hardy- Lockdown porch photography

DISCOVER
Portraits... Before the invention of photography, a painted, sculpted, or drawn portrait was the only way to record the appearance of someone. But portraits have always been more than just a record. They have been used to show the power, importance, beauty, wealth, taste, or other qualities of the subject.

Portraits can provide glimpses into lives, events, and places. They can help us understand culture, history and the identity of the people who appear in them.

Right now the lockdown is creating a 'world' historical event. So the idea of this art task is to record each member of your 'lockdown bubble' by taking a portrait photograph. Take great portrait photos

CREATE
Pick the perfect background and setting for your subject.
Prepare your portrait subject for the shot.
Ensure your subject is well lit.
Focus on the eyes.
Capture your photo. Make sure you get photos of all the people/pets in your bubble.

SHARE
Kā Manu art space is a public space, so I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing your personal photos with the world. However an idea would be to send your portraits to loved ones. I'm sure family and friends would enjoy a reminder of your family during lockdown.
